Wordless Wednesday: Daddy/Daughter Date Night

Last Saturday night was date night at our house.  Not for my husband and myself, instead my husband escorted Cakes to the Snow Ball at our church.  They both got dressed up and spent a couple of hours with other daughters and their dads while enjoying dinner, playing games, and dancing.  Since the Snow Ball ended up overlapping with bedtime, a sleepy Cakes requested they call it a night earlier than expected.  I don’t think she realized that this was a once a year sort of event because she requested they return again the next night and was disappointed when they couldn’t.

Daddy Daughter Date Night

I allowed Cakes to choose next year’s Christmas dress from the clearance section of Target and since red is her favorite color, she chose a red one.  We had already bought the dress before the announcement of the Snow Ball was even made.  The color of the dress ended up working out perfectly since the Snow Ball is so close to Valentine’s Day.  On another trip to Target we found her shoes.  While I was urging her to choose silver, she insisted on ruby slippers like Dorothy to make her dress.  Cakes was a vision in red!

I definitely need to work on my hair styling skills.  In the past six months or so, she’s just recently allowed me to start doing things to her hair but is usually pretty impatient about it so I don’t get a chance to do too much or spend too much time ensuring it’s just right.  She’s pretty tender headed and doesn’t like my brush, so I’m wondering if making that one little change will be enough to allow her to let me style her hair more.
