In Texas we have five season – fall, winter, spring, summer, and August. Now that it’s August, the dog days are definitely here. Temperatures are reaching the triple digits consistently and staying cool is a priority.
We try to spend as much time outdoor as possible, staying cool in the pool, lake, or river but with little ones we can’t spend all day in the sun. To make summer cooler and flavorful for our girls, we love letting them try new frozen treats.
There’s nothing like a sweet, icy treat to make it feel like summer. Most of the time my husband and I abstain from indulging in ice creams and other similar items because they’re either loaded with calories, or artificial flavors and sweeteners and taste awful.
But this summer we were pleasantly surprised to find a new frozen fruit bar to enjoy with Fruttare! These fruit bars are available in two categories – fruit and juice, and fruit and milk, with eight varieties to choose from. These are the perfect indulgence for those watching their calories which ranges from 60-140 calories each.
I was excited to spot these fruit bars while grocery shopping last week. Unfortunately my store only carried Coconut & Milk, Strawberry & Milk, and Banana & Milk – but they all sounded so good, I picked up one of each!
My daughters love strawberries and like bananas so I wasn’t sure which flavor would be their favorite. Surprisingly the banana ended up being the favorite for both of them. There wasn’t an overpowering artificial flavor like you might expect and there were chunks of banana – what’s not to like?!
I adore coconut and purchased the Coconut & Milk Fruttare bars with myself in mind. I was not disappointed with the creamy texture and pieces of shredded coconut and even my husband who isn’t a big coconut fan, really enjoyed the creaminess and flavor of the coconut.
If you’re looking for a new, lower calorie alternative to your usual frozen dessert, I encourage you to check out Fruttare Fruit Bars. They can be found at grocery and discount stores across the country. To locate a store near you, use the Fruttare store locator.
