After having two children, I can see more quickly and change the mistakes I made with the first.  Schedules and sleep training were obvious areas of improvement, but there were others too.  As shocking as it may be, I’m a bit of a control freak and also hate to create unnecessary work for myself.

With Cakes (now 5), I found that a majority of messes stemmed from her feeding herself.  I helped feed her for way longer than I should have.  So when it was really time that she should know how to feed herself and I was done with doing all the work on that for her too, she really wasn’t interested.  And I’m sure, if given the option, to this day she’d probably allow me to feed her.

Real Life Messy Moment
Maybe it was me letting go of control and empowering, a difference in personalities between the girls, or a combination of the two but Cupcake is so much more independent.  If she can do something herself (or even if she can’t), she wants to at least try.  Especially with eating, so this girl gets messy multiple times of days.

While I can’t control the mess when we’re eating something like spaghetti, I have found the secret to managing messes at other times during the day…food pouches!  If a food is available in a pouch form, I’m so there.  One of my daughter’s  favorite foods is Stonyfield YoToddler Yogurt Pouches.  It’s one of my favorite foods for my daughter because it’s real organic yogurt, full of protein and with live and active cultures.  Not to mention the delicious flavor combinations like Pear Spinach Mango give her a hidden serving of veggies!  It’s a win/win with the Stonyfield YoToddler Yogurt Pouches – the mess is controlled, my daughter is getting a delicious snack, and she can eat independently!
